I’m not fully vegan, but the vegan options are great

I have been very disappointed with Duke’s vegan options, particularly at the Bon Appetit venues (Penn Pavilion and Marketplace). There are absolutely NO vegan desserts available, even though they make sure to have plenty of gluten-free desserts (and I’m sure that there are lots of students with dairy or egg sensitivities/allergies who would appreciate vegan desserts.) Most of the vegan protein available is Seitan, which is neither as appetizing nor as healthy as tofu. Also, the staff is not often knowledgeable about what’s in the food and there have been several times when food has been mislabeled (or not labeled at all), and I’ve become sick. It would make more sense to label food items with “contains dairy” or “contains egg” or “contains meat” stickers than to have general (often left off) vegan stickers.

Duke provides an ample amount of vegan options on campus-especially in their newest location-Penn Pavilion!
